Hello friends,
I want to invite you to join me next month (July) on Friday mornings for my class, time is a spiral. This class is for artists, writers, dreamers, activists, teachers, and anyone else who wants to be here. In this class, we will explore grounding practices, listening together, lessons from our ancestors (including our plantcestors), and how to meet this moment collectively. I made this class because I felt that we need it. I made this class because I believe that we can reach the future collective liberation we desire if we practice being together, if we practice dreaming it into being. I made this class because I do believe that time is a spiral. Lately I am comforted by the way my body seems to know that my ancestors did this before– moved through deep uncertainty and change. Sometimes I arrive at points in the spiral where I feel my ancestors with me, at points where we pass each other. I know that time is a spiral because grief and healing and connection and care and every other most important thing in this life are non-linear. They do not correlate to capitalism, to industry, to the calendar. I hope that you will join me starting Friday, July 4, 2025 at 11am PST. I’m excited to open this portal with you.
Here is the flyer for time is a spiral class:
A friend also asked me a good question about the class and I want to share my response with you as well, so here’s that as well:
Here are some other things I wanted to share with you.
Also next Friday, July 4, 2025, I will have some of my colorfield photo prints available for sale in this benefit show for Moonpence Farm at Circle Round in Portland. Here is the flyer for that:
Here are some good books I read recently (that are all available on Libby 4 free! do u know about Libby??)
stemmy things by imogen xtian smith
Bitter Water Opera by Nicolette Polek
Dances of Time and Tenderness by Julian Carter
This one is not available on Libby as far as I know but is also a recent and recommended read–
I’m working on a few different publications that I’m really excited about right now. One of them is a compilation of selected notes from the notes apps on our phones. I’m making this because I personally use this app so much (5k+ notes) that it eventually got glitchy and I had to download a different one. And because I have found many poems in those notes over the years and I have also loved to see other artists’ and writers’ and freaks’ note screenshots. I love poems I love artists I love practicing vulnerability even though it’s scary I love freaks I love books and I want to make this book and that’s enough so I’m making it. But I also want your notes! I am particularly interested in the notes that feel like relatives of Tumblr posts or LiveJournal entries, other unhinged diary content, reminders and lists and notes that only make sense to you or maybe once did, and notes that blur the lines between multiple genres. If, while reading your notes you think, is this one too weird to submit? Definitely submit it, the weirder the better. If you would like to send me some notes, please observe (+ follow) these guidelines:
Here are a couple of my notes for inspiration perhaps:
(I really don’t remember the context of that last one, wtf is grindr shabbat? Lmk if u know)
Anyway, that’s all for now.
As always, thank you for reading,
Luz
